Story :

http://media.entertainment.sky.com/image/unscaled/2009/1/15/Mission-Impossible.jpg

While working at Biocyte, an Australian company, Nekhorvich, a Russian scientist, is forced to develop a deadly bioweapon named "Chimera" which lies dormant in its host for twenty hours after infection, but then rapidly causes the body's red blood cells to disintegrate and cause hemorrhaging and death while becoming highly infectious. At the same time, Nekhorvich has developed a potent counter-agent, "Bellerophon" to stop the effects of Chimera while in incubation. Nekhorvich realizes he must expose Biocyte's research, and contacts his old friend Ethan Hunt, whom he refers to as "Dmitri", to help assist him to reach the U.S. Government; in order to transfer Chimera, Nekhorvich uses his own body as a petri dish and makes sure he can reach the United States within 20 hours of departure to ensure he's in time to administer Bellerophon. However, as he and Hunt cross the Rocky Mountains on a passenger plane, the captain—Hugh Stamp—claims that there is a drop in cabin pressure and releases the oxygen masks, and the rest of the crew and passengers are anesthetized due to an NO2 tank being supplemented to the oxygen mask air supply, and "Hunt" reveals himself to be Sean Ambrose, another IMF agent, who then breaks Nekhorvichs' neck and takes the briefcase containing his research. Ambrose and the rest of his team jump from the plane before it crashes, killing all those aboard.

The real Ethan Hunt learns that Nekhorvich's request for help came while he was out mountain climbing during his vacation, and IMF was forced to send Ambrose and his team in his place, but Ambrose has now gone rogue. Hunt is assigned to stop Ambrose's plan, and is allowed to pick two members to assist, but the fourth has been assigned for him, an expert thief named Nyah Nordoff-Hall who is a civilian and was recently Ambrose's lover. After selecting his old colleague Luther Stickell and the semi-eccentric Australian Billy Baird as his other team members, Hunt sets off to find Nordoff-Hall based on limited intelligence. He manages to catch her in the act of stealing a diamond necklace, and convinces her to help join the team. Nordoff-Hall returns to Ambrose, attempting to rekindle their relationship while acting as an inside man and monitored through Stickell and Baird, and discovers that Ambrose has been in discussion with John C. McCloy, the CEO of Biocyte. Nordoff-Hall is able to obtain a copy of the research reports on Chimera that McCloy provided to Ambrose and get it to Hunt; Ambrose is aware of this and takes action to lure Nordoff-Hall to reveal her true allegiance.

Hunt and his team kidnap McCloy and make him believe he has been infected with Chimera in order to learn what Biocyte's plans were. McCloy reveals that they were planning on releasing Chimera and then make a fortune off the sale of Bellerophon. After Nekhorvich stole the only samples, McCloy contacted Ambrose to help return them, but Ambrose turned the tables, asking for a large sum of money to return the samples, which McCloy has agreed to. Knowing the samples are at the Biocyte headquarters, Hunt and the others plan a daring break-in. However, their presence was expected, and Ambrose has prepared an ambush while holding Nordoff-Hall as a hostage. A firefight breaks out, and Nordoff-Hall manages to get free and inject herself with the last remaining sample of Chimera, forcing Ambrose to keep her alive for at least twenty hours in order to get McCloy's money. Hunt is able to flee the building and regroup with Stickell and Baird, and trace Ambrose to a Biocyte storage facility near Sydney. They learn that Ambrose has let Nordoff-Hall loose in Sydney, such that when Chimera becomes active, it will launch an outbreak that will send Biocyte's stocks skyrocketing due to the demand for Bellerophon, and Ambrose is now blackmailing McCloy to make sure he has a controlling interest in the company's shares. Hunt breaks up the meeting, grabbing samples of Bellerophon, and a large battle between Ambrose's men and Hunt's team breaks out. Hunt's team is able to defeat all but Ambrose, and Hunt orders Stickell and Baird to locate Nordoff-Hall while he fights Ambrose alone. Hunt gains the upper hand and kills the rogue agent while his team members find and return Nordoff-Hall; Hunt is able to inject the Bellerophon into her body just in the nick of time to stop Chimera. Hunt is debriefed and confirms that all samples of Chimera have been destroyed, and then returns to his vacation, this time spending it with Nordoff-Hall on an Australian beach.

Tom Cruise In Mission Impossible

Mission: Impossible is an action film released in 1996. It was directed by Brian De Palma and stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. The plot follows Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) mission to uncover the mole within CIA who has framed him for the murders of his entire IMF team. Work on the script had begun early with late filmmaker Sydney Pollack on board, before De Palma, Steven Zaillian, David Koepp, and Robert Towne were brought in. In fact, the film went into pre-production without a shooting script. De Palma came up with some action sequences, but neither Koepp nor Towne were satisfied with the story that leads up to these events.

U2 band members Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton produced their own version of the original theme song. The song went into top ten charts around the world and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. The movie was the third highest grossing of the year. It is the first movie based on the television series of the same name and was followed by two sequels, Mission: Impossible II (2000) and Mission: Impossible III (2006).

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is an agent of an Impossible Missions Force (IMF) team, an unofficial branch of the CIA. Led by Jim Phelps to prevent an American diplomat from selling the (Jon Voight), the team assembles for a mission in PragueNon-official cover (NOC) list - a comprehensive list of all covert agents in Eastern Europe. The mission goes hopelessly wrong, resulting in the deaths of the diplomat and every team member except Hunt. Fleeing the scene, Hunt meets with Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny), the CIA-based director of the IMF, at a café. Kittridge discloses that the NOC list in Prague was a fake meant to draw out a mole who has infiltrated the IMF and made a deal to sell the list to an arms dealer known as "Max." Suspicion now falls on Hunt, the only survivor of the botched mission, who makes a daring escape from the café and flees into the city.

Hunt returns to the IMF safe house, where he discovers that fellow agent Claire Phelps (Emmanuelle Béart), Jim Phelps's wife, actually survived the mission. He begins correspondence with Max (Vanessa Redgrave), warning her about the fake NOC list and offering to deliver the real one in exchange for $10 million and a face-to-face meeting with the mole, nicknamed "Job." Max agrees to the deal and gives Hunt a cash advance, which he uses to hire two blacklisted or disavowed intelligence agents: computer expert Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and pilot Franz Krieger (Jean Reno). Hunt, Stickell, Krieger, and Claire infiltrate the heavily fortified headquarters of the CIA in Langley, Virginia, and successfully steal a copy of the full NOC list before escaping to a safe house in London. Once there, Hunt discovers that his uncle and mother have been falsely arrested for drug trafficking in an attempt by Kittridge to lure him out of hiding. This infuriates Hunt, and he contacts Kittridge, who offers to drop the false charges the moment Hunt surrenders to authorities. Hunt stays on the line long enough for Kittridge to trace him to the London area, then hangs up and finds Jim Phelps standing right next to him.

http://1075.timefm.com/imageGallery/mission-impossible-3-mi3-1.jpg

Phelps, presumed dead in the Prague operation, says that Kittridge is the mole and is trying to tie up loose ends by arresting Hunt. Hunt reflects on this, while mentally piecing together clues he has discovered along the way and concluding that Phelps is the mole, Job. Hunt pretends to accept the story, understanding that Krieger has assisted Phelps, but is still doubtful about Claire's place in the conspiracy. The next day, Max and Hunt arrange to meet aboard the TGV en route to Paris, with Claire and Stickell aboard to provide backup. Kittridge is also aboard, having recently arrived in London and received tickets for the TGV and a video watch from Hunt. Aboard the train, Hunt delivers the NOC list to Max, who directs him to the luggage compartment to find Job and his money. Max then attempts to transmit the NOC list to a server, but Stickell activates a jamming device to prevent the upload. Claire, observing Kittridge's presence aboard the train, vacates her seat and meets with Phelps in the luggage car, confirming her part in the conspiracy. A silent "Phelps" slowly peels his face away, showing it as a mask and revealing himself as Hunt. They are interrupted by the arrival of the real Phelps; unhinged, armed and demanding that Hunt hand over the money paid to him by Max. Hunt does so, then puts on a pair of glasses with a camera built into the bridge; the image of Phelps' face is transmitted to the video watch carried by Kittridge, giving the latter undeniable proof of Job's true identity.

http://www.blu-ray.com/images/reviews/1114_1.jpg

Claire tries to persuade Phelps not to kill Hunt, but he kills her instead, knocks Hunt down, and climbs up to the roof. Krieger has been following the train in a helicopter and is waiting to extract Phelps. Hunt recovers and follows Phelps, impeding his efforts to escape and tethering Krieger's helicopter to the train as it heads into the Channel Tunnel. The fight continues, with the helicopter now following the train inside the tunnel. The two fight atop the wind-swept train before Phelps disconnects the helicopter from the train and attempts to escape. Hunt follows, leaping onto the helicopter's landing skids before the demented Krieger was about to behead Hunt with the helicopter's propellers and attaching explosive chewing gum to the windshield. The ensuing explosion kills Phelps and Krieger, with Ethan narrowly escaping. Now in possession of the NOC list and Max's true identity, Kittridge reinstates Stickell as an IMF agent and drops his investigation against Hunt, who resigns from the IMF. As he flies home, a flight attendant approaches him and asks, through a coded phrase, if he is ready to take on a new mission.

Box office:

Tom Cruise In Top Gun

http://electricshadows.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/top_gun1.jpg

Top Gun is a 1986 American film directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer in association with Paramount Pictures. The screenplay was written by Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr., and was inspired by an article written by Ehud Yonay for California Magazine entitled "Top Guns." The film stars Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer and Tom Skerritt.

The film follows LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a young Naval aviator who aspires to be a top fighter pilot in the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School, which trains the top <1%>of all Naval aviators. Maverick gets his chance to attend the school after one pilot drops out, allowing him and his RIO (Radar Intercept Officer, the "back seater" in the two-man F-14 Tomcat) LTJG Nick "Goose" Bradshaw to train with the best. The film opened in America on May 16, 1986 to good reviews, the aerial scenes being most notably praised. Similar praise followed soon afterwards when the film broke records at the box office, becoming a mega hit. The film accumulated over $350 million worldwide, and broke home-video sales records.

Summary:

The plot follows Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (played by Tom Cruise), a United States Navy aviator and his service aboard the Indian ocean aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and at United States Navy Fighter Weapons School. Former Top Gun instructor pilot Randy "Duke" Cunningham claimed to have been the inspiration for Pete Mitchell, although the movie's producer denied this, saying that the character was not based on any specific aviator.

The film begins with Maverick and his Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards) in conflict along with Maverick's wingman "Cougar" and his RIO, "Merlin", (both piloting F-14 Tomcats) in the Indian Ocean against what are suggested to be Soviets flying Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-28s. (It should be noted that MiG-28s are fictional, Northrop F-5 Tiger IIs are used in a mock-up paint scheme.) After Cougar has a close call and is too shaken up to land his plane despite low fuel, Maverick chooses to assist Cougar in landing on the carrier, at risk to his own plane which is also low on fuel. As a result, Cougar chooses to resign, citing his newborn child which he has never seen, as his reason. Despite his personal feelings for Maverick, the CAG, "Stinger" (James Tolkan) is forced to choose his top pilot, formerly Cougar, now Maverick, to attend Top Gun.

While testing his instructors' patience with his reckless flying (on his very first day, he outflies an instructor (LCDR Rick "Jester" Heatherly) but breaks two rules of engagement in the process) and establishing a rivalry with top student Tom "Iceman" Kazanski (Val Kilmer), Maverick becomes enamoured with his beautiful civilian instructor, Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Maverick manages to gain her attention by regaling her with details about the MiG encounter from the film's opening, jesting that the details are classified (possibly true, since Maverick saw the MiG-28 perform outside its alleged envelope) and claiming, "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." During a later period of instruction while viewing old combat film, Charlie rejects Maverick's risky piloting suggestion, embarrassing him in front of the whole class. After a high speed automobile (Charlie) and motorcycle (Maverick) chase, Charlie tells Maverick she felt compelled to reject his risky, although brilliant, flying lest everyone know she also has feelings for him. During a dinner date later Maverick reveals that his father, Naval Aviator Duke Mitchell, was shot down during the Vietnam War and is listed MIA (Missing In Action) with the details classified. Maverick tells Charlie, "The stink of it was: he screwed up." Maverick is bothered by this because he believes his father was too talented a pilot to have made a mistake.

http://divisionstreet.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/topgun.jpg

During the flight portions of the class Maverick lives up to his callsign when called upon to be a team player. At one point, flying a mock combat mission alongside the pilot-RIO team of "Hollywood" and "Wolfman," he abandons his teammates to chase after TOPGUN's chief instructor, Commander Mike "Viper" Metcalf (Tom Skerritt). Though he gives the older pilot a run for his money, Viper's wingman, Jester (Michael Ironside), defeats Hollywood and then easily sneaks up on Maverick himself, proving that teamwork outweighs sheer flying ability.

During the next engagement, Maverick and Iceman both chase Jester, with Maverick closely following Iceman while the latter attempts to gain a missile lock on the target. When Iceman gives up and pulls out, Maverick gets caught in the jet wash of Iceman's plane and his F-14's engines flame out, he enters a flat spin from which he cannot recover (not unexpected behavior from the TF30 turbofan engines used in early-model F-14s) forcing him and Goose to eject. Maverick ejects clear of the airplane, but Goose ejects directly into the jettisoned cockpit canopy and is killed on impact. Although the inquiry clears Maverick of any responsibility, he is overwhelmed with guilt, subsequently loses his competitive edge and refuses to take risks or engage enemy targets. This causes Maverick's standing in the school to wane, he alienates Charlie and questions whether or not to remain in the Navy.

http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Top-Gun-tom-cruise-374700_468_545.jpg

Unsure of his future, Maverick goes to Viper for advice, who reveals to Maverick that he served with Duke Mitchell and tells him the truth of Duke's fate, despite the classified status of the information. He then informs Maverick that he can graduate the course if he can get past his sense of responsibility about Goose's death, and his "confidence problem." Heartened by this new information, Maverick chooses to stay in and graduate from Top Gun.

During the post-graduation party Iceman, Slider, Hollywood, Wolfman, and Maverick (to be assigned a RIO upon arrival) are ordered to report to the USS Enterprise. A mission has come up suddenly that requires some of the best pilots the Navy has to offer. Maverick, with new RIO Merlin, is to fly back-up to two other teams (two aircraft), Iceman & Slider and Hollywood & Wolfman. Iceman expresses his distaste for Maverick as back-up to the CAG, Stinger. After Hollywood is ambushed, Maverick is scrambled alone due to technical difficulties and nearly retreats after succumbing to similar circumstances that caused Goose's death, however upon finally joining Iceman, together they succeed in their mission and return to the Enterprise. Maverick is then offered any duty he chooses. He chooses to return to Top Gun as an instructor.

http://www.ugo.com/movies/bromantic-movies/images/top-11-bromances-top-gun.jpg

Maverick returns to NAS Miramar and revisits his relationship with Charlie where the film ends in a scene that recalls an earlier scene in which Maverick and Charlie first met at a popular hangout of naval aviators, leaving open the possibility of a relationship and Maverick's future as a Top Gun instructor.

He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and won three Golden Globe Awards. His first leading role was the 1983 film Risky Business , which has been described as "A Generation-X classic, and a career-maker" for the actor. In 2005, the Hollywood journalist, Edward Jay Epstein argued that Cruise is one of the few producers (the others being George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer) who are able to guarantee the success of a billion-dollar movie franchise. Since 2005, Cruise and Paula Wagner have been in charge of the United Artists film studio, with Cruise as producer and star and Wagner as the chief executive. Cruise is also known for his support of and adherence to the Church of Scientology.
